Frequently asked questions
What is Lifestyle Access?
Lifestyle Access provides personalised support to help NDIS participants access their community, participate in activities, develop independence, explore interests and work towards individual lifestyle goals.
Do I have to participate in group activities?
No.
Different people enjoy different environments.
Activities may be social, one-on-one, community-based or more private depending on your preferences, needs and available supports.
Can I choose what activities I do?
Absolutely.
Choice is at the centre of Lifestyle Access.
We want to know what you enjoy and what you want to achieve.
What kinds of activities can you support me with?
The possibilities can include creative activities, sport, recreation, community outings, shopping, libraries, galleries, music, drama, social events, concerts, sporting events, appointments, day trips and much more.
Any NDIS-funded support must be appropriate to your individual plan and meet current NDIS funding requirements.
Can you support me at a medical or therapy appointment?
Depending on your support needs and NDIS plan, we may be able to assist you to attend appointments and access appropriate services.
Lifestyle Access does not provide medical treatment or clinical therapy unless explicitly delivered by an appropriately qualified professional.
Does the NDIS pay for concert tickets, food, shopping or activity fees?
Not necessarily.
NDIS funding generally relates to the disability-related support you need to participate, rather than ordinary everyday costs that anyone would normally pay themselves.
Always check what is covered under your individual NDIS plan before committing to an expense.
I'm nervous about trying something new. Is that okay?
Of course.
You set the pace.
Something as simple as visiting a café, walking through a gallery or spending an hour somewhere new can be a great first step.
There is no competition and no pressure.
Can my family or support coordinator contact you?
Yes.
We're happy to speak with families, nominees, carers, support coordinators and plan managers, subject to the participant's consent and preferences.
